CHAMP-ION is driving Europe’s leadership in ion-trap quantum technologies by establishing an inclusive, sustainable pilot line network for high-quality ITC production. The initiative provides the full value chain—from design to microfabrication and testing—enabling scalable, mass-producible ion-trap chips with integrated electronic and photonic features. By creating Europe’s first open-access pilot production capabilities and developing advanced Process Design Kits (PDKs), CHAMP-ION secures the EU supply chain and fosters SME and start-up participation. This central hub will empower a competitive, resilient ecosystem for quantum communication, sensing, and computing, strengthening EU strategic autonomy for the next decade.
